Earlier this year, Boinx Software’s iStopMotion for iPad received high praise in our review. We loved the app’s simplicity and 1080p HD recording. Today, iStopMotion updates to version 1.5, and beyond a few appreciated changes, iPad mini owners can get in on the fun.
iStopMotion is one of those apps basically made for a rainy, fall weekend. Grab your iPad, some clay–or an old action figure–and you’re on your way to making a frame-by-frame masterpiece.
Today’s update adds blank frames to the list of available features, offering a couple of options for capturing a stop-motion video. Boinx has also increased the number of ways you can share your finished videos, adding Twitter and Facebook support. Movie files can be uploaded to YouTube or Dropbox.
A new accessories page offers some ideas on products that might help in the production of stop-motion videos. Understandably, those products mostly look like a variety of iPad stands, but there’s some interesting mounts to help keep the iPad stable while you’re shooting.
Of course, StopMotion 1.5 also adds support for iPad mini. You can also use a separate companion app, the iStopMotion Remote Camera, to use another iOS device in making a video.
